HELP!!

It’s kitten season and HSMC is being overrun by kittens, and we're out of room!  We desperately need adopters for the increased numbers of homeless kittens. We cannot accept cats/kittens from the Monroe County Animal Control or the public when we are full, as we are right now. To avoid having to let Animal Control euthanize large numbers of healthy cats and kittens we are urging the public to consider adopting a cat or kitten from HSMC to open up room at the shelter for the ones at animal control. If you are able to give a permanent home to a cat/kitten, then please notify HSMC IMMEDIATELY! This is an extremely urgent life and death situation! Please ask your friends, coworkers and relatives who may be cat lovers if they would consider adopting another kitten!

YOU can make a difference!  Please Help save a life!

It's time for our 3rd Annual Pawtrait Fundraiser

Photo sessions will be on Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12.

Support HSMC, receive a 5x7 photo of your pet (you choice of pose) and have your pet's photo automatically enter to compete for a placement in our 2010 Pet Pawtrait calendar!

Click here for more details on the when, where and how.

We have an opportunity for our shelter to raise money with your help

The Animal Rescue Site www.theanimalrescuesite.com has a Shelter Challenge competition for a Grand Prize of $20,000. The organization with the most votes WINS!!  All you have to do is go out on the web site and select the "Click Here to Give - It's Free" (the big purple button). Then at the top on the next page, click on the "Vote Now" button. Then type in "IL" for the state and "Waterloo" for the City. Click the "Search" button and our name and location should be displayed on the page in the purple area. Select "vote", and the verify your vote and Viola! your done. You can vote once a day. Voting ends at midnight on July 26th. Please visit the site daily, vote and spread the word to vote for our shelter.

As of 6/28 HSMC ranked 13th in the state of Illinois and 222nd nationally.

In one week we only moved up 2 places nationally

Again, we did not gain any  places in the state, but we also didn't lose any either!

The HSMC shelter is located at 4172 State Route 3 (Illinois Route 3) and is approximately 8 miles south of Waterloo.

Our hours of operation are:

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 3PM to 7PM

Saturday 11AM to 6PM.

Our next adoption event is July 11 at PetSmart on 4451 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, Missouri from 11AM to 3PM.

Also, if you are interested in an animal on our website site and would like to arrange a visit at a time other than the scheduled adoption events, please call 618-282-PETS and leave a message.

“PLEDGE-A-PLAQUE” PROGRAM

Show your support for our new shelter with a personalized plaque display!

Our shelter building on State Route 3 is in the final stages of renovation. The new facility will offer opportunities to memorialize a person, pet, family name or business.  An engraved plaque will be affixed to the object at this facility that the monies were donated for to recognize your contribution. Your chosen text (up to 50 characters) can be accompanied by a photo if you like (digital, please).  All plaques will be prominently displayed and visible to the general public.

To participate in the Pledge-A-Plaque program please click here!

Donate a BedWe have chosen Kuranda dog beds for our boarding facilities because they are so good for our dogs. If you would like to donate a bed so another dog can sleep in proper comfort, please click here.
