PET OF THE MONTH FOR FEBRUARY 2009

Daisy
Basset Hound Mix

Size: Medium
Age: Adult
Sex:  Female

Daisy is a 35 pound basset mix, a little over a year old. She is just the sweetest girl in spite of having a really rough start in her life! Daisy was in a home where she was not treated well by the man of the house and some of the small children. She is very shy around men initially but warms up quickly once she finds out they are good guys. Her foster Dad has her eating out of his hand and watching TV on the sofa with him, she sleeps with her head in his lap, so she has made great progress.

Daisy sometimes has trouble coming up to people if something even slightly scares her, or if things are unfamiliar. For instance, a cap on someone she is not used to seeing wearing a cap makes her afraid to come up to them without treats and coaxing and a good bit of time. She really needs a fenced yard to exercise & play in. Daisy is described in rescue terminology as ‘a flight risk’, meaning that she will run away because she is afraid of something. For this reason we would like to place her in a quiet, settled home without children. That will eliminate the possibility of children accidentally allowing her to dash out an open door. Daisy needs someone who is patient and kind to make her feel secure in her new home; she will probably take several months to really settle in. In return for your TLC and kindness she will reward you with a great deal of unconditional love and more kisses than you can imagine. She is very settled in her foster home and behaves almost ‘normally’ as long as her world stays calm. Daisy plays really well with Guinness (also on our website) and other dogs in the home, she is an extremely dog-social girl! She has put on a couple of pounds and still could use another 2 or 3, she is eating very well now too.

Daisy is spayed, micro chipped and completely up to date on her shots. As you can see by her pictures, she is a very attractive dog. She holds her head up very elegantly and her precious brown eyes are amazing!

If you would like to meet Miss Daisy, please call 618-282-PETS and her foster family will set up a time to meet with you

Daisy is up to date with routine shots, micro-chipped and is altered.
