Humane Society of
Monroe County, Illinois
Jacob
Sighthound/Lurcher
Mix
Size: Medium
Age: Adult
Sex: Male
Jacob
is
a
one
year
old
mixed
breed,
probably
a
Sighthound
mix
known
as
a
Lurcher.
He
is
a
light
bodied,
long-legged
dog
with
intelligent,
warm
brown
eyes.
As
his
tall
ears
register
every
sound
his
facial
expression
adjusts
accordingly.
He
doesn't
miss
a
thing!
At
17
inches
high
at
the
shoulder,
he
has
reached
his
full
height
and
is
the
perfect
medium
size
for
a
housedog.
This
handsome
boy
with
a
beautiful
shiny
coat
is
at
his
ideal
weight
of
about
37
pounds.
Jacob
came
to
HSMC
as
a
very
shy
and
fearful
dog,
probably
from
not
being
properly
socialized
as
a
young
puppy.
He
was
lucky
enough
to
be
evaluated
by
the
St
Louis
Dog
Training
Club
and
accepted
into
their
special
class
for
shy
dogs.
He
completed
the
8
week
course
on
March
20th
and
although
meeting
strangers
still
needs
work,
he
has
gained
new
skills
and
is
less
fearful.
He
has
no
fear
issues
at
home
in
a
familiar
environment.
In
his
foster
home
he
is
quite
confident,
in
fact
he
thinks
he
rules
over
the
rest
of
the
menagerie.
He
is
a
snuggler
with
his
foster
family
and
does
not
object
to
being
handled.
He
has
a
great
‘sit’
and
is
very
attentive.
With
the
other
dogs
in
the
foster
home
he
is
a
rough
and
tumble
player.
His
best
playmates
are
2
females
who
do
not
object
to
his
obnoxious
adolescent
hijinks
and
the
neck
grabbing
that
goes
along
with
his
breed.
His
ideal
home
would
include
mature
female
dog
who
is
at
least
his
size
and
who
would
enjoy
or
have
the
patience
for
his
rough
play.
Jacob
cannot
be
placed
in
a
home
with
small
animals.
He
has
a
strong
drive
to
grab
and
shake
which
could
easily
cause
serious
harm
to
smaller
animals.
He
depends
on
"his"
humans
to
help
him
in
new
and
unusual
situtions,
so
would
be
better
off
without
young
children
who
couldn't
read
his
fears
and
help
him
through
them.
Jacob
LOVES
to
run
and
has
amazing
speed;
with
his
long
legs
he
is
a
joy
to
watch
run,
he
looks
like
a
deer.
With
his
high
energy
needs,
Jacob’s
ideal
home
will
have
a
large
fenced
yard
for
exercise.
Having
said
that,
he
loves
to
sleep
on
the
sofa
and
has
some
really
elegant
poses.
He
is
past
the
chewing
stage
but
does
like
to
chew
on
the
appropriate
nylabones,
etc.
He
is
completely
crate
trained
and
has
not
had
an
accident
when
loose
in
his
foster
home.
He
is
not
left
loose
when
he
cannot
be
supervised,
at
those
times
he
is
crated.
Jacob
is
microchipped,
neutered,
up
to
date
on
his
shots
and
nearly
ready
for
his
forever
home.
If
you
would
like
to
meet
Jacob
or
just
ask
questions,
please
just
618-719-6325
and
speak
with
his
foster
mom.
Jacob
is up to date with routine shots,
micro-chipped and altered.
