Kelsey
Lab Mix

Size: Large
Age: Adult
Sex:  Female

Kelsey is a 2 year old, 55 pound lab mix, with an absolutely gorgeous, soft and shiny coat. Kelsey plays very well with the male dogs in her foster home; she is not very tolerant of female dogs. Kelsey would also be fine as an only dog in the home; she LOVES people and craves interaction with them.

Kelsey loves to go for rides and is very well behaved in the back of an SUV; she just sits back and watches the world go by, delighted to be along for the ride. Kelsey also loves to sit on the sofa and watch TV with her foster family and has been known to have sofa privileges overnight many times.  Kelsey is crate trained and is housebroken. Kelsey loves to be close to people. She is also a busy girl and very curious. She loves chews and other toys. Interactive toys that make her think and keep her mind busy are very good for her; we can give you a list of some examples of toys that would be ideal for her.

Kelsey is doing well with lead walking using an Easy Walk harness. Kelsey is also working 3 times a week with HSMC's trainer on a special program called ‘Nose Work’ and loose lead walking. Nose Work is a fairly new training activity that develops a dog’s natural scenting abilities through fun and games while providing mentally stimulating exercise. Kelsey loves this activity and is very good at it. Kelsey would be a fantastic dog to take to obedience classes; she is very smart and you would see a lot of progress in her very quickly. Training would also make her bond with you very quickly. Kelsey’s foster family is offering a certificate for a free training class with Judy Luther of Dog Stars Training in St Louis. Judy is a Victoria Stilwell endorsed positive trainer. She offers many types of classes including Nose Work.  Check out her website at www.dogstars.biz

If you would like to meet Kelsey please call her foster mom, Alice, at 618-939-1324 to set up a time. If you have a dog, you could bring him along for an introduction/play session with Kelsey.

Kelsey is up to date with routine shots, micro-chipped and is altered.
